Von Iceland is owned by two families that Mr. Johannes Egilsson and Thor Hauksson represent as managing directors.

They both have vast experience in this field and university degrees.

VON Iceland is a family owned business founded in 2002 and the company employs 18 people with more than 50 years of experience in the production of dried fish snacks.

Early career was marketing project management and sales in various sectors.

Mr. Thor Hauksson, MD & owner
BA, MA & MBA Economics and Finance
Extensive and successful experience in building up and operating companies for the past 25 years.
Early career was international experience in heading investments, private equity funds and corporate finance.
Various board experience in various listed companies – also certified board member by FME Iceland and FCA UK.
Married with 3 kids.

STORY
​The founder of the company, had dried fish for many years in the West Fjords with the old traditional method.  The traditional drying method was always subject to climatic conditions in Iceland and could take a long time to have the products ready and the quality varied.

He began to ponder a method of how to dry fish more efficiently, which at the same time imitated the weather in Iceland. With this vision, he developed a method that was at once a unique and perfect way to produce dried seafood snacks that met all the quality requirements of excellent food processing and stable quality.

Since 2002 we have produced tasty and unique dried seafood snacks from high quality raw material. The dried seafood snacks from VON Iceland are undoubtedly the most popular dried seafood snacks in Iceland.
